Social Activities

Social Too, not just business

Rotary is sometimes thought of as the "Old Man's Club". That may have been true once, but over the last 30 years the organization has changed. Women were admitted in the late 1980's, which was a great improvement. And the age of members has been creeping down as well.

Rotary has always meant service. Clubs raise money for worthy causes both domestically and foreign. Clubs hold local fund raising events but also participate in any number of community activities. And Rotarians are more than just Rotary. The membership represents people from every board, non-profit, and service organization in the area.

In recent years the Rotary Club of Bay City (noon) has held social get-togethers several times a year. Rotarians and their guests meet after-hours at a local restaurant, pub, or other establishment, or at someone's house, for a relaxing evening, and usually a few brews.

On Octover 18, 2017 the club, along with members of the Morning Rotary, gathered at the VNO Warehouse on Bay City's Westside for Hors D'oeuvres and "Fine Wine" samples. Andy Braun was on hand to provide live accoustic music.

As a special treat, any member who wore any Rotary garment (shirt, hat, or perhaps Rotary pants) was entered into a special drawing to win some wine.

As the year progresses the club hopes to hold three or four social nights. Announcements will be made at meetings and in the Breezes newsletter.
