"The joy of brightening lives becomes for us the magic of the holidays." -W.C. Jones
Happy Holidays Rotarians!
We have some exciting events this (shortened) month! We will not be meeting on December 24th and December 31st which means that we only have 3 meetings this December. December 10th will be a club assembly to give feedback and gain insight on where we would like our club to be in the future. On December 17th we will be having a "Sweater Weather Get Together" that will be a celebration of our year, our members, and include fun games with prizes!
Rotary International's focus for December is Disease Prevention and Treatment. As Rotary states "Disease results in misery, pain, and poverty for millions of people worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important to us. We lead efforts both large and small. We set up temporary clinics, blood donation centers, and training facilities in underserved communities struggling with outbreaks and health care access. We design and build infrastructure that allows doctors, patients, and governments to work together.
Our members combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. Prevention is important, which is why we also focus on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care."
Please consider the Rotary Foundation as you look at your options for year end giving. Rotary is 4 star charity on Charity Navigator (its highest rating) and 92 cents of every dollar donated go directly to program awards and operations.
Let's not let the year end in a whimper (like the Bears ending the game on Thanksgiving - GO LIONS)! Let's pack the house to send the year out right.
